Ashfield Rural Climate Resilience and Living Culture Project
What does climate resilience look like for Ashfield?
This unique grant was put together by the Town of Ashfield in collaboration with Double Edge Theatre, climate & cultural strategist Lauren de la Parra and climate planner Holly Jacobson.
Additional project associates are the Ohketeau Cultural Center and Arts Extension Service at UMass Amherst.
The project’s goals are to:
Create new opportunities for local organizations, community members, and Town staff to discuss goals and ideas related to three topics in Ashfield: clean energy, nature-based resilience solutions, and affordable housing;
Identify avenues for community partners and the Town to collaborate on future projects and grant proposals to achieve community goals related to the project focus areas;
Grow Ashfield’s potential for creative collaboration and leadership on rural climate and community resilience in the region.
Between December 2024 and June 2025 the project will include community dinners and dialogues, site tours, and a community resilience day. Come join!

Student Liaisons Interviews
As part of the Ashfield Rural Climate Resilience and Living Culture MVP Project, twelve middle and high school students from the Mohawk Trail Regional School interviewed members of the community on topics related to creating a more resilient town and region. Each student interviewed six community members – three school peers and three family members or neighbors. These were the interview responses.
