Eversource’s Transmission Maintenance Department will be replacing select wood pole structures with new, more durable steel structures, as well as installing lightening protection hardware on some existing transmission structures. The work will take place between the Berkshire Substation in Hinsdale and the Cumberland Substation in Greenfield.
In Ashfield they will be installing lightening protection hardware on structures within Eversource’s existing right of way that crosses Bug Hill Road, Bear Swamp Road, Smith Road, Baptist Corner Road, Bellus Road, Beldingville Road, and Phersick Road.
The work is planned to begin in June with Project completion and restoration of disturbed areas occurring in the Fall of 2020. The hours of construction will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Please note that these work activities will not interrupt electric service to homes or businesses.
Prior to work beginning, the Eversource Team will be reaching out to nearby property owners about topics such as securing off-right-of-way access on properties. They will also be mailing the letter below to all property owners who abut the right of way:
