    Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held by the Zoning Board of Appeals at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Ashfield Town Hall, 412 Main Street, on the petition for a Special Permit or Variance by Peter Wiitanen to create two non-conforming lots from one lawfully non-conforming lot at 1591 Conway Road (Assessors’ Map 8-4, Lot 25), and recorded in Franklin Registry of Deeds in Book 1768, Page 33.

Treasurer Duties: (MGL Chapter 41, Section 35)

  • Receive and take charge of all money belonging to the town, and pay over and account for the money according to the order of the town or of its authorized officers.
  • pays the bills of all departments.
  • Gives an annual account of all receipts and disbursements and a report of all official acts.
  • Oversees all Town trust funds, bonds, loans and retirement systems which are in the treasurer’s custody, and any such fund that is deemed to be public funds.

Accountant Duties: (MGL Chapter 41, Section 57)

  • Maintain municipal books including a general journal, general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Prepare warrants. Verify that any expense payment is lawful, justified and that funding exists under the appropriate budget line item.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end reports for officers or department heads showing the total appropriations, expenditures and the balance in each appropriation.
  • Reconcile cash with Treasurer and receivables with Collector.
  • At year end, prepare Combined Balance Sheet, Schedule A and other reports necessary for certification of Free Cash.
