Town News

Bridge Closure - Watson Road

Under the direction of MassDOT, the Ashfield Highway Department has closed the bridge/large culvert on Watson Road due to major structural concerns.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. Access from Bug Hill, Old Stage, and Watson Spruce will continue only to the bridge, while access to the upper portion of Watson will need to be made through the Town of Hawley.

The bridge/large culvert will reopen after the MassDOT determines there is no longer a structural concern.

Road Closure - Bullitt Road

Beginning on approximately November 2, 2017, Bullitt Road will be closed to through traffic.

The purpose of the road closure is to make repairs to the bridge located immediately at the intersection of Route 116.

The remainder of the road will be open and access will be from North Poland Road in Conway.

The road is expected to be closed for approximately two weeks.

Eversource Maintenance Work

As part of Eversource's everyday effort to deliver reliable energy to our customers and communities, they will be inspecting their existing transmission structures in Town. Maintaining the infrastructure that supports electric lines is on of the many ways Eversource ensures the safe, secure transmission of electricity throughout the region.

Eversource will be working in Ashfield within the next couple of weeks. This maintenance work is taking place on the right of way that is on or near your property.

First, Eversource would like residents to know this work will not interrupt electric service to your property, and that people working on the project will be carrying proper identification at all times. Crews from Osmose will be working for Eversource to inspect existing transmission structures located on or near your property. In some instances, they may hand excavate around the base of the structure. The excavated area will be filled in before moving on to the next structure.

Crews will be walking or riding in ATVs within the rights of way.

Work hours will be Monday through Saturday, 7 am to 7 pm. Please keep in mind that the schedule may change due to weather and other unexpected circumstances.

For more information about this work, please call 1-800-793-2202, or send an email to TransmissionInfor@eversource.com. Thank you.
